If your dog barking first of all you need to check reason of barking and remove it. Don't give your dog the opportunity to continue the barking behavior. Sometimes it will be bring him into the house, closing the curtains on windows etc.

Don't leave your dog outside alone all day and night.  Tray another step don't give him any attention at all while he's barking. I think don't talk, don't touch dog or look your dog. Give him attention when stop barking.

Some example: When you leave dog in crate, turn your back and ignore him.
Good technique is to teach your dog to bark on command. When he stops barking after three time give him the treat. After that exercise teach him the "quiet" command.Praise him for being quiet and give him the treat.
